Brisbane Chapter In-Person Monthly Meeting - 8 August 2026

About this event

Agenda:

8:30 – 9:00: Meet and greet with tea & coffee

9:00 - 9:30: Introduction; A review of the world markets and ASX sectors

9:30 - 10:30:Trading Psychology by Kerry Fagen

In this presentation, Kerry introduces the emotional roller coaster that comes with trading.

Whether you trade short term or long term, understanding how the brain responds to the highs and lows, and the space in between, is just as important as understanding the technical side.

Emotions can strongly influence the choices you make, so by becoming more aware of these emotional responses, you can better manage risk, improve your decision-making, and create a clearer path toward long-term success.

About Kerry:

Kerry has been trading CFDs and shares since 2007, initially on a part-time basis, but over the past eight months she has committed herself to day trading and scalping full-time. She is self-educated, having completed a wide range of learning experiences, from online short courses to in-person seminars hosted by financial institutions.

Kerry is a member of the Brisbane chapter and also a member of the Ladies Finance Club (LFC), supporting Molly Benjamin’s mission to empower and educate women in financial matters.

What is a risk-adjusted return and how to calculate it? by Tim

This topic may be one of the least understood parts of investing.

Investors may make the mistake of focusing on returns in the most basic form without considering the risks they take to achieve them.

It is important to understand how risk-adjusted return is calculated and how it can help investors manage market volatility and improve long-term performance.

11:15-11:45 A discussion on Gary Burton’s markup notations applied to selected stock charts - bring a few suggestions along. Tim
